The Summit Of GAFA

‘The Summit Of GAFA’ is a retrofit design for the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art (GAFA). The teaching buildings of GAFA were planned and constructed in the early 2000s. Now they have been challenged to face more students and more educational activities.
Considering the limited space and the structure of the teaching buildings. I chose the roof of buildings as the retrofit area. In “The Summit Of GAFA”, I added new landscapes and infrastructures based on students’ standard requirements. Meanwhile, a giant ramp was designed to connect other areas with the roof, increasing the accessibility of this new roof garden.
